Amsterdam has a genuinely good fitness scene, from boutique yoga studios to serious functional gyms, and a lot of it is easy to drop into for a day or two without a membership. So we rounded up our favorites for travelers.
Here are the five we'd recommend, and who each one is best for.
De Roos – Yoga, Pilates & Wellness Studio in Amsterdam
De Roos stood out to us straight away. Tucked near Vondelpark, it's less a standard gym and more a calm space built around yoga, Pilates, and slowing down. There's a café and a real boutique feel, so it's an easy place to ease into the day. If you want to move and actually unwind, it's a lovely pick.
Best for: Yoga, Pilates, and a slower, more mindful kind of training.
SculptClub Jordaan – Private Personal Training Studio in Amsterdam
If you'd rather train without the crowds, SculptClub in the Jordaan is a strong choice. It's a small private studio built around personal, one-on-one sessions, and you arrange things directly with the coaches, which makes it easy to fit around a busy travel schedule.
Best for: Personal training, private sessions, and training without distractions.
YOGI – Yoga & Movement Studio in Amsterdam
YOGI is the one we'd suggest if you want variety. It blends classic yoga with a more modern, fitness-leaning approach, so the schedule runs from vinyasa and yin to sculpt and breathwork. Plenty of range whether you're easing in or pushing hard.
Best for: Yoga, mobility, breathwork, and mixing up your movement.
YogaZenter – Boutique Yoga Studio in Amsterdam
For the slower days, YogaZenter is a lovely option. It's a small studio in Amsterdam-Oost that leans into the calm side of things, breathing, meditation, and unhurried practice rather than high intensity. A good place to reset when a few days of travel start to catch up with you.
Best for: Yoga, meditation, and recovery-focused, mindful movement.
Vondelgym Zuid – Functional Fitness & HYROX Gym in Amsterdam
And for a proper, full-sweat session, Vondelgym Zuid is the pick. It's a big functional space with CrossFit-style training, HYROX, boxing, and classes, plus the kind of community energy that tends to push you a little harder. Whether you're brand new or well into it, there's a level for you.
Best for: Functional fitness, HYROX, CrossFit-style training, and group energy.
So which one should you pick?
It really comes down to the day and the mood. The best thing about Amsterdam is that you can go from a quiet yoga class to an all-out workout within a short bike ride, so pick the vibe you're after and you can't really go wrong.
